Twelve years ago on a typically gray day in London, I experienced my first Starbucks. I felt like I actually forced myself to like this miserable cup of bitter, tasteless coffee. The marketing and hype made it so insane that its almost as if I paid to take out pictures with my name on the cup. What a grand example of brilliant marketing and a poor product. Definitely overrated and definitely overpriced! Wish it tasted a little better so I could actually stomach it and lie to everyone (Just Kidding)
Perhaps, If you are not an experienced coffee drinker – You would probably think its not too bad – But I have honestly tasted such amazingly delicious coffee in so many little cafes around the world. Especially in Italy! Every cup at every corner cafe was pure bliss!
We only recently received the Starbucks brand in South Africa and sadly, even in the Southern Hemisphere, it still disappoints me.
On the upside …I love the brand, The story is inspirational and will fire up any entrepreneurs spirit – The logo is also pretty genius. No two ways, I love lounging around any Starbucks ,sipping on (watered down) hot chocolate while typing furiously on my MacBook. It makes me feel very “Carrie Bradshaw” – The Sex & the City character probably inspired me to blog long before blogging was even a thing!
